Monterrey Grown Grapes Wine

In 2003, Balentine Family Wines founders and winemakers Bob and Daphne Balentine set out to produce affordable, world-class wines from California’s Central Coast, encompassing sites where some of the first wine grapes were planted in California.

The 831 Wine Company was established in 2012, joining a Balentine Family Wines portfolio that already included Line Shack Winery and many small grower projects. Designed to showcase exceptional fruit from diverse Monterey County growing areas, 831 wines offer world-class quality at an affordable price. We invite you to try a glass!

The 831 Wine Company, a nod to the local area code, was created to showcase the exceptional Monterey, California growing region. Our fruit is sourced from diverse Monterey sub-appellations that highlight the unique microclimates best-suited for each varietal we produce.

For cooler climate varieties like Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, we select fruit primarily from the Santa Lucia Highlands and Arroyo Seco AVAs. Sauvignon Blanc is sourced from the Southern Salinas Valley and San Lucas AVAs, while fruit from the warmer San Antonio and Hames Valley AVAs is chosen for our bold, signature Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Sirah, Syrah and Viognier.
